Focus Attention Span Test Directions Our attention can only contain a limited amount of information and through the immediate attention span test we can measure how much it can contain at any single moment. This is the quantity of signals we can fit into our internal visual attention span. Rows of letters For the first test we use rows of random letters. You select the size of the row, click the button to get the row, take a quick look at it, close your eyes and visualize the letters. Now this is very important, you have to see every letter clearly and distinctly AND all the letters clearly and distinctly, AT THE SAME TIME. If you can do this, increase the size of the row. Continue doing this until you can't see ALL the letters clearly at the same time. It could be three letters or five letters, or more. As soon as you come to the point where you can't see every letter clearly and distinctly, where the letters become blurred, or you have to jump quickly from one end of the row to the other, you stop and record the number of letters in the last row before this one. That is the size of your your attention span. String of numbers Do the same with the numbers and a mixed set of numbers and letters. Don't use any memory tricks or other tricks in order to increase the amount of letters such as chunking them or making up a word. Go to the test. |
